More information related to the dogfighting ...

Another article that I came across was found on http://articles.cnn.com/2007-07-18/us/dog.fighting_1_illegal-blood-sport-underground-dogfighting-magazines-animal-shelters?_s=PM:US website. This article talks about dogfighting, considering different legal issues as well as providing statistical analysis related to dogfighting business.  In Wyoming and Idaho dog fighting is considered a misdemeanor while for all other states dog fighting is a felony. In some states where the dogfighting is considered a felony, it is still legal to own a fighting dog or be a spectator of a dog fighting sport. The bill was signed by President Bush in May of 2007 that strengthened the federal law by increasing jail sentence up to 3 years and a fine of $250,000. There is also a statistical data that says that in 1992, 2-3% of dogs coming into shelters were pit bulls. Today about one third of the total amount of dogs in animal shelters is made of pit bulls where about 20% of which possess marks indicating previous involvement in dog fighting sport.  There is also information about the number of people involved in dog fighting, whether it is a professional or underground sport. The purpose of the article is to inform readers of the full seriousness of dog fighting providing some statistical data and qualitative analysis of the dogfighting. This article is very relevant to my topic as it supports my idea and my opinion about the dog fighting.
